Nidhi is a 10-year-old girl.
Along with her two younger siblings, she attends a government primary school in the area.

Her father is a rickshaw puller and a compulsive alcoholic, while her mother, a domestic help in the neighbourhood, lets her go to school instead of asking her to contribute to the family income.

Her hope is that Nidhi will one day have a better life than hers.

However, Nidhi at 10 cannot even read a full sentence in Hindi, do a simple addition, nor write anything beyond her name.

She is frustrated because neither is she able to help her mother, nor does she have the chance to play with her friends freely, so she starts planning schemes of how she can drop out to school.

Her mother, on the other hand, not seeing great changes in Nidhi even after she has been going to school for more than 4 years, is changing her mind as well. She is considering pulling her out and finding her employment as a domestic help in the same building.

This way, she would work and add a few more Rupees to the family income.

Nidhi is just one kid who is on the verge of dropping out.

30% of children drop out of government schools around grade 5.

Collaborate to Create Change (C3) is an NGO established in 2016 with the purpose of supporting teachers and building accountability in the system to improve the quality of education in government schools.

The schools are struggling to deliver quality in education, with increasing dropout rates and decreasing attendance.

Starting a whole-school transformation by building a growing pool of motivated teachers.

In order to bring about a positive change in the system, we believe that we need to train, teach, reorient, motivate, modernise, invest in, work with, recognise, celebrate, reinvent TEACHERS.

C3 is built on the ideology that government schools need Public-Private Partnerships.

Our strategy is to develop a district-level collaborative model which can be effectively implemented nationally, involving the government, schools, NGOs and content partners specialised in the educations sector, and fellows (teachers selected to participate in a year-long fellowship).

Our holistic approach will focus on:

  • School leadership & governance

  • Teachers' professional & skill development

  • Engagement of various stakeholders.

C3 has designed the L.E.A.D.  (Lead through empathy, appreciation and development) Fellowship to not only motivate the teachers to become part of the change, but also prepare them to become implementers of the whole program on the ground.

The Fellowship will:

  • Empower teachers with skills required for professional development,

  • Help them identify their purpose and link it with their work, and

  • Build a community of like-minded people.

It will mainly include:

  1. A 2-WEEK BOOT CAMP focused on key soft and hard skills.

  2. AN EXPOSURE TRIP to various well-performing schools/NGOs.

  3. TEACHERS' PLACEMENT IN THEIR RESPECTIVE SCHOOLS. They will be the key resource people to coordinate the design and delivery of our project and oversee base/mid/endline surveys.

We are living in a digital era.

Teachers, however, may often be intimidated by this new world of opportunities.

This is why the teachers involved in our pilot program will:

  • receive training in key digital skills (Basic IT skills, Case analysis & problem solving, online research & presentations),

  • join weekly online training & Q&A sessions,

  • help promote a digital culture in their schools.

Teachers will have the opportunity to conduct online research, follow our online training modules, and prepare the assignments required to successfully complete the fellowship.

Our pilot program will start in a few weeks. Therefore, we will need to raise funds by July 2017!

And with your support, we are confident we will be able to reach our goal!

It takes less than one minute!

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for participating in the Milaap Campaign and supporting us.. The campaign has been a great insight for us. It helped us launch ourselves in a more structured manner and establish real-time, timelines for the project. We have learned more about the regulations, practices, and challenges of fundraising in the last month as compared to the previous six months.

So, far we have raised Rs.75000 from Milaap. We thank each of you for your kind donation. With the money, we are buying computers for the training center. We plan to get them installed at the schools by mid of July.

However, we are still very far from target which makes it difficult to do all the activities. It is our heartfelt plea to please spread the word among your family and friends to support our cause of making our government schools great again.
