We are raising funds to conduct residential workshops for rural college going girls on life skills and focused career engagement to take them from college to defined opportunities. Through this engagement we want to work with 350  girls through 10 workshops.

Residential Program:

Objective
  • Enhance Motivation, confidence, belief and awareness for self and society.
  • Broaden vision for potential
  • Widen exposure to opportunities
  • Devise action plan for future
Our three day residential program for girls is focused on building their self- confidence, self-belief and social consciousness through activity based sessions. We get students from different colleges and different cultural background to create more learning through diversity and peer knowledge sharing. We broaden their vision  and expose them to various opportunities they can pursue and help them  make plans for their future.  We also encourage them to dream for a better world for themselves and for their society.

Who are our girls
The rural girls we work with comes from economically low income background, almost all of them are first generation college goers, whose parents are unskilled labourers( coolie) living in interior villages of Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari.  We know some of our youth come from disturbed backgrounds it becomes essential for them to have a safe space and learn life skills to help them to survive through the life

Who are we?
Bodhi Tree Foundation, started in May 2014, believe in bridging the rural urban divide based on resources and opportunities by empowering rural college going students. We want to create a movement of rural role models who believe in changing their life and their communities through education, skills and opportunities

How would we spend the money?

A single 3 day  residential workshop for 35 girls would cost us Rs.52500. This includes the cost of program supplies, boarding expenses, food, stationery, stipend paid to trainers and transportation costs.
For 10 program it would cost 5,25,000

Rs. 1500 cover the cost of one girl.

Why I am fundraising?

Growing up in rural India, and listening to the narratives of how unwanted a girl child is, how there is no expectations from a girl except growing up to be a presentable young woman who can get a decent spouse, I always felt the lack of a safe space for girls to express themselves and explore their talent and widen their horizons. Through Bodhi Tree Foundation’s initiative, we want to create a space for girls to be themselves, to claim their dreams and to shape their world

What would you get?

We welcome you to take session on our residential camps. Be a volunteer / trainer, we promise that these 3 days will be the most memorable days of this year!
