Our dream is to share yoga and meditation with as many people as possible - and with your help, that dream will be a reality.
We are a group of Isha Hatha Yoga teachers from 3 different countries who are on a bicycle journey across India. We started from Kanyakumari on Sept 3rd, and will cycle around 8,000km before reaching Kashmir, offering free yoga and meditation classes to children in rural villages all along the way. The journey will last 12-13 months.
We have chosen specific practices that are simple yet powerful, and support the children in their growth and development, particularly to help improve memory, mental clarity and focus, as well as give deep relaxation, something which is much needed during exam times.
We are also teaching to orphanages, old age homes, colleges, blind schools, school for deaf children, a few sports teams and to a school for mentally challenged children. As of Feb 16, 2020, we have reached over 25,000 students and others.
After 2 lessons, the children will continue to practice on their own during school time for 10-15 mins every day. In addition, we will be planting a tree at every school where we teach and talk about the importance of trees on the environment, such as for rivers and many other things.
These practices have changed our lives in a profound way, and we feel every child should have a chance to benefit from these incredible tools. It is a special opportunity to share the science of yoga in places where these tools would not normally be accessible.
As Sadhguru, founder of Isha Foundation, and many others have said, now is the time to raise human consciousness on this planet - we hope this can be a great contribution, as our children are our future :)
In order to complete the full mission, the Bicycle Yogis are seeking financial support to help cover the costs of bicycles and equipment, accommodation and travel costs for the Pan-India ride. The funding will go to support the core team and also to teachers who will be joining to teach in the local language in the respective states.
We will post updates sharing how the funds were spent and post stories, photos and videos as the journey unfolds on social media - you can follow the ride here:
