Help 30 Crore people beat depression

SOME STATISTICS:

Every day more than 5 suicides are recorded in Bangaluru and it is expected that 100 suicides per day in Bengaluru go unrecorded.

In the last 90 days, 431 recorded suicides have taken place in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru has earned the dubious tag of 'SUICIDE CAPITAL’

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, at least 35 in every 100,000 people in Bangalore commit suicide.

REASONS FOR THE HIGH SUICIDE RATE IN BENGALURU ARE:

  • When suicidal thoughts strike, the person feels alone as he does not find anyone to share his feelings with. In Bengaluru, most people live away from their family and thus have do not have many people to confide in. That’s why they take such drastic measures.

  • High alcohol consumption and stress are also the leading causes of suicides among young adults. Experts say that most suicide cases in the city are related to stress; its citizens are unable to cope with Bengaluru's quick growth. If you walk into Bengaluru's leading hospitals, you will find a large number of patients suffering from stress-related ailments.

SOME RECENT CASE STUDIES:

  • Take the case of Ravi Varma (name changed), a customer service adviser at a reputed BPO. Unable to bear the stress and loneliness, he attempted suicide five months ago. Luckily, he was saved due to quick medical attention. Ravi says the loneliness and stress got to him. He hardly had any time to spend with his family or friends. "Sometimes I felt like discussing work-related issues with my family, but never got the opportunity because of my work hours."

Ravi's mother says she never thought the problem was this bad until he attempted suicide. "We now take him for regular counseling and yoga class. We are making attempts to create time to spend with each other. Giving up his job is not the solution," she says.

  • Kishore Alva, a software engineer, says "It is the EMIs that worry us. How do we repay the banks if we lose our jobs? This factor is on my mind almost every day and increases my stress levels."

AGE GROUPS AND THEIR REASONS FOR COMMITTING SUICIDE:

15-18 years: Academic stress and not meeting parents expectations.
18-21 years: Career confusion, problems in relationships (love failures.)
21-25 years: Identity crisis, work pressures, disturbed in personal issues.
25-30 years: Strained relationship, financial issues, domestic issues.
30 and above: Financial issues, gone wrong in relationships or domestic issues.

(These reasons were listed after speaking to many psychiatrists and NGOs)

HOW WE ARE HELPING THEM:

The most effective way to cure depression is by providing ‘talk therapy’ to the deceased. It simply means that the deceased has someone to talk to about his/her problems.

At our Instagram account; @motivationpedia we provide such therapies for free. Our team members are always available to talk to the deceased and anyone who seeks help from us gets it. We have already proved that this approach works; as on our Instagram account; @motivationpedia, we have helped many people overcome depression by simply listening to their problems.

HOW WE WILL USE THE FUNDS WE RAISE:

The money we raise through this campaign will be used to reach the depressed people who need our help. We will run ads on Instagram and will specifically target people in Bengaluru who might need our help and whenever anyone comes seeking our help, we will help them the best we can.

So, please help us in our initiative and together let's make Bengaluru depression-free.

Dear Supporters,

We express our gratitude to you!

We have developed the user blogs feature. There are many users who are writing motivational and inspirational blogs on our site. The site has been redesigned so that we can attract as many visitors as possible and provide them with content that will motivate and inspire them.

Since, the last update, we have managed to raise close to 15,000 Rs. The funds we have raised so far are still not enough to develop the fully functional website with all the features that will help us eradicate depression, so we request you to contribute again to our campaign so that we can reach our goal and develop the website fully. Even a small donation of yours can help us a lot in our fight against depression.

Thanks again for all your support.

Let's make this world depression-free.
