Karunakar's world came crashing down when his newly born child had to be hospitalized. His 5-Month Old Baby was having difficulty in breathing and was brought to the hospital immediately. The baby had to undergo Tracheostomy. The doctors had to cut open near his throat to create an airway, he was then on ventilator support.



The baby is slowly re covering but needs another surgery and rehabilitation. Karunakar and Mamatha have been married for 3 years and finally they had their first child. But as soon as the baby was born , all they ever did was to run from hospital to hospital. 

They had their son in a local hospital near their town and the moment he was born , the doctors rushed him to go to a hospital in the city. So they immediately took him to a government hospital in Hyderabad but there was no bed available. Again the kid had to be rushed to a private hospital. " I thought we will lose him on the way"- says Mamatha.

Karunakar and Mamatha are daily wage laborers from Siddepet Mandal, 90 Kms from Hyderabad. "If there is work , they pay me Rs 300/- and my wife Rs 200/- a day, and it's a small town no one gives us work that often" - says Karunakar. They had to stay in the hospital for 58 days and have already spent Rs 10 lakhs till now.

" We sold everything we had and came to the city to save our new born child."
