Team Avishkar Hyperloop
Team Avishkar Hyperloop is representing India and IIT Madras at the International Hyperloop Pod Competition organized by SpaceX. We are striving hard to ensure ingenious research and development for building the First ever Self Propelled, Completely Autonomous, Fastest Hyperloop Pod of India and helping humanity move one-step closer to achieving an incredible new mode of transport.

Hyperloop
Hyperloop is a new mode of transportation - the 5th mode. It is a high speed train that travels in a near vacuum tube. The proposed speed is around  1000kmph.

SpaceX and the Competition
SpaceX, headed by Elon Musk, organizes the Hyperloop Pod Competition in order to accelerate the development of functional prototypes and encourage student innovation. Started in 2017, SpaceX challenges a number of student teams to design the best transport pod. Few selected teams get to build a prototype and test it at the SpaceX facilities at its headquarters in Hawthorne, California.

Major Achievements
  • In the Hyperloop Pod Competition 2018, our design had been shortlisted by SpaceX as among the top 47 designs out of 1200+ designs globally.
  • Invited to SpaceX Headquarters, California to witness the International Hyperloop Pod Competition 2018.
  • Cleared the Preliminary Design Round as one among the top 52 teams out of 1600+ teams globally in the Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019.
  • Only Indian team present at International Hyperloop Pod Competition 2018.

Goals and Aspirations
Currently, we have registered for the competition and have cleared the first stage of the competition and are working towards the second stage, the Final Design Round. We aim to be the Winner among the top 20 teams to be selected to run their pod through the vacuum tube at Hawthorne, California.

How we would use the funds
We are currently in the testing phase of the competition. As we have several subsystems in our team, and each subsystem has to do their own individual testing and submit the reports to SpaceX as a part of the Final Design Briefing. Any surplus in the funds shall not be used otherwise. It would be put to perfect use in manufacturing of the pod, irrespective of whether we clear the round or unfortunately don't. But, considering our team's efforts put in this time, we feel confident about clearing this round too.
