The district of Hoshangabad, Bihar has a grim scenario when it comes to education – over 80% students drop out of school even before completion of Class Xth. Yet, this place has people like Amit who dreams of being an IAS officer one day to change the realities of this poverty stricken district. Amit is like one of many aspiring minds, who if given a chance can take up the stewardship of rural India. Bharat Calling is our way to give them that one opportunity.
Bharat Calling conducts awareness sessions in rural government schools, which are followed by the timely information on various entrances and than a summer camp for peer to peer mentoring. This whole support reduces college dropouts, SC/ST empowerment, Remittance-fuelled growth and most significantly, pushing the aspiration notch higher.
10,000 rupees is required to conduct a summer camp for 15 schools targeting 2000 students. The students are provided with 40,000 rupees of worth training for cracking entrances by volunteers in summer who come from prestigious colleges like IIM, IIT, TISS etc.
Bharat Calling has received Best Innovative Project by EIFI- HP 2012
