In India, acid attacks have developed a gender dimension with majority of the victims being women and adolescent girls. It is a heinous crime committed with an intention to disfigure or kill women. Hence, it is a form of gender-based violence, with an objective to keep women in subordinated positions.
Red Brigade is working with rape and acid survivors since 2011. As you know Red Brigade was formed  by survivors in Lucknow India. Red brigade trust and action aid has started an initiative for creating an entrepreneurial opportunity for Acid Attack Survivors to capacitate them for running a Café in Varanasi.
