Stigma around menstruation and no accessibility of menstrual products is one of the biggest problems faced by women. Cost of menstrual products often restricts women form buying them. Pink tax is the main reason why women have to resort to low quality products and ignore their hygiene. Instead of waiting for the law to change and removal of taxes , women needs to be provided with cheaper sanitary kits and employment opportunities so that they are able to buy such basic necessities for themselves.
Furthermore, not only women from rural areas have such difficult access to these products but also women living in brothels especially G.B. road are not considered as humans who need to maintain personal hygiene and access to sanitary kits.
The project ‘Pad making machine’ is a great initiative which will help women to get sanitary kits and also the means to afford them. This will provide them the opportunity to earn a living by making eco-friendly bags. Such underprivileged women need such projects which can distribute free sanitary kits and help them live a healthy life.
Many privileged people like me can come forward and help these women. Even small amounts can help to contribute to this noble cause.
Sukhad project will help us in eradicating the taboo related to menstrual hygiene and we will try to educate maximum people about periods. This year we aim to distribute 50,000 sukhad kits.
Per kit price: Sukhad kit for 1 woman = Rs. 1,400/-
Sukhad kits for 5 women = Rs 7,000/-
24 packets of sanitary pad
6 packets of soap
Disposable paper envelopes.
