"SimplyBlood- a platform to save 1 Million Lives by 2020!"

Kiran Verma is a 32 year old with a unique story, and a clear vision.

He is on his way to building a blood donation app that could save millions of lives. His app, SimplyBlood, has already been used actively in over 80 countries, saving more than 500 lives.

When Kiran was 7 years old, he lost his mother to cancer- something that played deeply on his mind. At a young age Kiran was motivated to do something to impact society in a positive way.

How blood donation started:

When Kiran was doing his diploma, one of his professors was on dialysis and needed a blood transfusion. Kiran stepped up and donated blood. His professor’s life was saved.

“I was able to see the change that I had on their lives- a family’s life was impacted because I contributed blood when they needed it”

After three months, Kiran went to Red Cross and contributed blood again. Thus began his legacy of starting blood donation camps at college, encouraging fellow students to contribute blood and save lives.

SimplyBlood:

After contributing blood voluntarily, Kiran found out that patients that used his blood had to buy that from the hospitals.  Dismayed, he considered filing an RTI petition. Finally, Kiran realized that the best way to make an impact would be to start his own initiative.

And thus Simply Blood came to life.

Simply Blood balances demand and supply of blood, so that no blood is wasted. Every drop Is precious and life saving!

Simply Blood is a working virtual blood donation platform that simplifies the process of blood donation and ensures transparency.

How it works:

Kiran put together the data that he collected over the past few years, comprising a database of over 60,000 people.  When a person needs blood, they can request it on the platform. If there are no responses within 2 hours, Kiran manually locates matching donors in a 5-10 km area, and sends the information to the needy. Thus, the person who needs blood directly reaches out to the donor- eliminating middlemen.

A blood donor can also choose to contribute on a particular date- and the app will direct him to the nearest hospital or blood bank.

Why is he fundraising?

Kiran has quit his job to run this initiative- one that is close to his heart. He wants to make it easy to anybody to contribute blood at any time, and save lives!

However, expenses are mounting and Kiran wants to take SimplyBlood to the next level. Expenses are as follows:

Website Development - Rs. 1,00,000 (that includes the backend)
App Development - Rs. 1,50,000 (Android, iOS and Windows)
Hosting and domain renewals - Rs. 50,000
Traveling and Medical Aid to the needy - Rs. 2,00,000

Kiran's endeavour has been recognised by the media:

Kiran wants to save 1 Million lives by 2020 by building SimplyBlood- help him in this endeavor!
