Help 10 Young Girls To Get An Experience in Technology #GirlsInTech

About 30 years ago, women were 30% of computer scientists - since then the percentage has decreased to 18%.

Today, more girls and women are using technology than ever before. But relatively few are playing a role in creating this technology or are pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Roughly, only six out of hundred apps are developed by a woman.

There is a serious gender divide when it comes to technological access, literacy, and influence. Women and girls are missing, excluded, and dropping out – whether it’s online, in the classroom, or in the world of work.

To address this gap is working with Salesforce India on #GirlsInTech initiative that will aim to engage, empower and educate girls to join a career in tech/computer science.

Through this program, early exposure and access to computers/programming will seek to inspire and equip more girls to create a technology for the future.

Not only will the program aim to educate and train girls about a career in computer science, but will also demonstrate ways to showcase the importance of their contribution in tech.

Ten girls will get an opportunity to work on a tech driven project for a non-profit partner organisation of their choice.

Under the guidance of  Salesforce mentors, volunteers and industry experts, the students can work on solving a pressing problem that is encountered by a local non-profit using technology as a tool.

By end of the program, #GirlsInTech initiative by Salesforce and will:
  • Educate girls about a career in tech/computer science.
  • Provide access to girls with Salesforce India mentors and industry experts.
  • Demonstrate the impact of girls in technology through a tech driven project work.
  • Solve a pressing problem of a local non-profit organisation using technology.
