I am Ripu Daman, someone who is extremely passionate about my country and the environment.
I have a dream, a dream to see India Litter Free. I am starting with Run to Make India Litter Free - it will be the longest clean up drive undertaken as I will be running and cleaning up 1000 kilometers across India covering about 50 cities.
About My Journey
I started the plogging movement in India with Ploggers Of India a couple of years back. Plogging is jogging+picking up litter. I left my multinational job to set out on this journey and have been bootstrapping this mission.
We, Ploggers of India are promoting fitness and cleanliness through our drives and spreading awareness on how we should first take responsibility towards the environment
before blaming the authorities, government and everyone else. We have organized and supported more than 300 clean up drives across India in the last couple of years.
What is our goal?
Our ultimate goal is to make India litter free by ushering people into this fitness activity with a cause highlighting how individuals can easily contribute.The drive’s main focus would be to clean up trash and to pledge NOT to use single-use plastic. Cleanliness and fitness can be promoted by getting people to participate in a mega event
where they witness visible-changes and with just a few minutes of plogging collectively, people would pick up tons of trash and would be able to experience the change.
What action are we going to take?
I am going to go cleaning up across 50 cities of india.
Plastic upvaas : I will be on a plastic upvaas which means I will not consume or eat anything wrapped in single use packaging during the campaign. This whole activity will be done and documented to encourage people to adopt a zero waste lifestyle.
Consumer - Manufacturer partnership : We will be working with a couple of brands to highlight how we can create a circular economy and thereby zero waste lifestyle
To complete this run and to impact the people with our mission, my team and I will be going through hardships on the road. That's when these funds raised by you come in to help us out.
Transportation : We are covering 50 cities and endless kilometers to run and clean. It requires a continuous transportation of the crew to move through cities and
states. One can easily understand the huge amount of money is needed to sustain such kind of
transportation.
Accommodation The second most important thing that needs to be taken care of, is the accommodation of my small crew of about 4-5 people. The Team would be travelling a lot and thus their roofs will keep
changing so they will need places to stay.
Food : It's going to be extremely critical for the crew and me to sustain this mission. As I will be on a plastic upvaas and can't have anything on the road, it would require extreme planning and diligence to be able to fulfill this.
Plogging gear We will need continuous inflow of reusable gloves, bags, boxes and masks for plogging in each city. We would not be using anything which is single use
Every bit will be used for the sole purpose of executing this massive campaign and spreading awareness to bring about a change in the mindset of people about cleanliness.
