With the new academic year, we are still dealing with issues around basic amenities. The school lacks basic infrastructure like drinking water, toilets, a compound fence for children's safety. So we are planning a year in advance to make sure our next academic year is not same.This expansion will cost us around 20 lakhs.

Started in 2014 by non-profit organisation Chiguru Vignana Samsthe, this little kindergarten and primary school in Bidarahalli village (near Kabini backwaters), H.D. Kote Taluk, Mysore, India, currently provides English medium education to about 80 children of villages in the region, up to class 2.
Chiguru Vignana Samsthe, promoting Science education among village children, is run by youngsters Katavalu Shivappa and Parashivamurthy, natives of villages in HD Kote Taluk.
Shivappa is a popular Science Experiments teacher for many years and has also assisted several NGOs in holding Science workshops for Government school children all over Karnataka. He has gained a reputation as a trustworthy & reliable person with his passionate work. He has made it his life mission to provide experiential, good-quality, affordable education to village children. He now spends all his time working at Chiguru School as its Head.

Murthy works in a nearby hospital and uses his free time to assist in Chiguru School's administration.
Chiguru School is the only private, low cost school for about 20 villages in that region, having a significant socially backward & tribal population. To keep its educational service affordable to its target communities, it charges INR 1000 only as annual fees. Being a private school, it gets no Government grants and it is able to run as a low fee structure school due to its no-profit motive, hiring local women as teachers and through donations from friends.
Its current classrooms are temporary structures built on leased land. Expansion of school on leased land will lead to loss of investment in infrastructure (not all the classroom building material can be reused, bore-well, etc.) at the end of the lease period.
To grow the school beyond class 2 from the next academic year (starting June 2017), more classrooms are needed. The founders wish to expand the school on the school's own land.
An acre of land has become available for purchase, adjacent to the current location. Chiguru Vignana Samsthe is looking for donations for this land purchase. Bank loans are hard to come by due to the school's low-cost, no-profit model.
The school's plan to grow in a nearby permanent location is eagerly awaited by the villagers. They are very happy with how their children are doing at Chiguru School and are anxious to see their children's school start higher classes.
Chiguru School is seeking support from friends in its much needed growth plan and hopes to raise required funds by end of April 2017.
Chiguru school's continued success is crucial in providing good-quality education to children of Bidarahalli and nearby villages and also inspire more local folks to emulate Chiguru's low-cost, good quality education model in rural Mysore.
