Thingkhuila is a 49-year-old married woman from Ukhrul district of Manipur. She has a family size of 5, which consumes the household monthly income of INR 24,000. She is unable to run her household expenses along with her child’s education. Every second household in her village shares a similar dilemma of financial instability.
Like herself, most of the women in her village are earning through their agriculture business. However, they are not able to bring any increment due to financial instability. Along with 79 other women, she has decided to get financial support for their business expansion. She, as a leader, is seeking a loan of INR 2,000,000 from SEAT, one of Milaap’s field partners. They are planning for investing the loan on higher production of rice, sweet potato, etc. Due to the high demand for rice, sweet potato, etc. from their village, they are hopeful that higher profit will be achieved.
She wants to achieve the status of a woman, who is financially stable in terms of the household as well as in business. She also wants all the women in her village to understand the importance of financial stability for achieving other better opportunities. With the help of her group members, she wants to bring out the idea of ‘woman bringing money home’ in her village. And she is positive about succeeding with the help of the loan.
She and her group will be thankful for the support.
