Why am I fundraising?
One fine day I was waiting for a train at Old Faridabad Railway Station and was moved by street children begging for food/money. I decided to do something about this so started a school in the local community whereby I hired a teacher (as i was working with TCS then) and we started teaching them under a banyan tree. Since then, we have have helped more than 200 kids to send them to schools and currently have 171 kids in three schools (Paathshaala, Udaan & Disha) in the city. Our Objective is to remove illeteracy from the India and aim for 100% literacy rate atleast in primary education. Through our dedicated team of volunteers and teachers, we provide informal education to destitute children and assist their transition into full-time education. AID, Faridabad currently operates three schools (Paathshaala, Udaan & Disha) in the city and aims to create a profound impact on the community by equipping under-privileged children with the power of education.

FAQs
a) Why dont't you directly speak to schools/parents directly and send them. Why is there a need to open a separate school/tuition center?
Ans: Thats exactly what we tried during inception but we failed miserabley as they kids/ parents don't understand the importance of education. Further when such kids get admission into a school, they become a complete misfit. We try to facilitate their way to a formal education by spreading awareness about education into the community. Further, we teach them all the subjects which they would have learnt in a school so that the transition from non formal to formal becomes smooth.
b) Are your volunteers paid?
Ans: No.We have a team of about 11 volunteers who is managing these schools. Most of us are either working professionals or College students. We all come from diverse background who are passionate to bringe change in the community. We have hired 5 paid teachers and 1 paid full time administrative assistant who helps us tracking students progress and solve community problems
c) Do u focus on other challenges within a community?
Ans: Yes. to name a few
i) We had run a deaddiction drive in comunities to spread awareness among parents/ kids as there were many kids who were taking whitener/ other drugs
ii) Girl Education/ Marriage: We continuously engage with the community to prevent child marriage and promote girl education. We further try to impart skill based learning to grownup women
There are other activities such as microfinance, child labour prevention etc but our primary focus is on primary education and implementation of Right to Education act.
