About Us We’re an ISO 9001:2008 organisation and currently hold the distinction of being Delhi's largest operational NGO. Established in 1979, we've been providing humanitarian services to the socially and economically underprivileged; especially to women, children and the youth; for more than three decades. Our mission is to emancipate the poor by helping them rise above their societal limitations. To make this a reality, we have set up set up programmes in Education, Vocational Training, Care for differently-abled, Children’s Home and Women Empowerment. Our Impact •Provided education to more than 2,70,000 children •Imparted vocational training to 10,000+ adults •Provided healthcare to 6,00,000+ people and menstrual healthcare to 10,000+ teenagers •Successfully rehabilitated 4,000+ differently-abled children •Formed more than 1,000 Self Help Groups with 11,000 women in 400 villages Our Cause Did you know that despite the implementation of the Right To Education Act, more than 1.4 million children in Delhi still don’t have access to basic schooling? This situation is made worse because the stringent standards enforced by the RTE Act are also forcing NGOs all over the country to shut down schools. Several such schools operate in the heart of slum clusters and reach directly to the poor, but just because they don’t have a playground, according to the RTE, they are no longer fit to impart education. What is truly astonishing, however, is the fact that the same standards that force NGOs to close their schools are being wavered for govt. schools, which continue to function in the same lackadaisical manner as they have been since their formation. In this entire situation, the only people who truly suffer are the poor. Through our Education programmes we aim to reach out to out-of-school children from underprivileged backgrounds and give them non-formal education up to class V. We then collaborate with the govt. and mainstream these children into govt. schools. Our support, however, does not end there. We continue to provide remedial education to our beneficiaries and ensure that they remain on the right path of development. How you can make a difference As part of our Education programme we operate several learning centres across Delhi, U.P, Haryana and Uttarakhand. You can help support the education of the underprivileged children by sponsoring their tuition fee, uniform cost and other expenditure.
