My name is Jayaprakash Satyamurthy. I am part of an animal welfare trust called Animal Aid Alliance and I run the Bangalore-based cat adoption page, Moni's Home For Needy And Hungry Cats on Facebook. I've worked in animal rescue in Bangalore for 9 year. While there are a few good shelters for dogs, there is no dedicated shelter for stray, abandoned and injured cats in the city.

My dream is to set up a fully-fledged cat sanctuary in Bangalore. This will cover about half an acre of space. It will have separate quarantine sections, facilities for kittens and adult cats, an operation theatre, on-call vet and a dispensary and clinic where people can bring their cats for treatment. There will also be regular adoption drives.

I currently run several of these activities out of my home, along with my wife Yasmine Claire. But space and resources are limited and we really need to take this to the next level.
