Fundraise for a Cause with Milaap : the Best Crowdfunding | Milaap
22nd May 2021
Hello family,

I hope you're well and the pandemic hasn't been too harsh on you.

After 4 and a half years, this fundraiser has come to and end. And to celebrate the journey so far, I've put together a little update video elaborating what all has been achieved with your funds. Its truly been such an honour for me to have received your support thus far and I hope you'd be willing to continue supporting the Gaia story. I've started a NEW fundraiser now to continue the work. With covid still looming over us and not a lot of volunteers coming to the land, your support is needed now more than ever to sustain all the work we've done so far and grow the project. Please do consider <3

Much love,
Harsh

Lovely family,

I hope this message finds you well in these difficult times. We've been busy the past weeks starting seeds, transplanting them, preparing for monsoon and reinforcing structures. As most of you know we finished working on our dorm last year but only recently got around to fixing numerous leaks that had developed in the roof. Some last minute donations came in and enabled us to literally finish the work a day before monsoon arrived. Here are some pictures from the work. Was lucky enough to find some really talented local masons at the last minute to pull this off.

With regards to what's happening in the world, it saddens me to hear so many people losing their jobs and businesses and if you're one of them, I send you strength and courage. Also, if I can be of help somehow, do reach out, I would love to be of help somehow.

Apart from covid, so much is also happening in terms of racial injustice and awareness and how people of Color have had to suffer for centuries. Better late than never to learn about it and do something about it, I say. And to those working toward creating a more equal, equitable world, those with privilege who want to share and give and are actively doing so, I say thank you.

As always, if you'd like to continue supporting/donating to Gaia Grid for the work that is being done here, I'll be super stoked to receive your support. And if you'd like to share about the fundraiser with your circle, please do so using this link: www.milaap.org/fundraisers/jointhegrid

Sending out big hugs and hope for a fulfilling life to everyone ❤️

2nd April 2020
Hello lovely family,

Very few of you know this; a few months after I had quit my career and moved to Auroville, in 2012, I had had a strange nightmare where the entire world was empty and all the people missing. It was a rather horrifying sight, all playgrounds were devoid of the sounds of children, all streets, of the honking of cars and buses, the skies were without aeroplanes and the seas without ships. And in that dream, I realised that all the supermarkets were empty as well. When I woke up, I found myself to be very hungry and I walked to the kitchen to grab a banana. But that dream kept lingering in the back of my mind and I kept asking myself "what if we forget how to sustain ourselves?" And almost immediately another question came up, "do I know how to sustain myself right now?". This changed a lot of things in me, I think just then I sort of knew that I wanted to devote my life to, the pursuit of self-sustainability as a lifestyle and help others become more self-sustainable as well.

Gaia Grid has been an exercise in that direction and in early January 2020 when I first heard the news of the spread of Coronavirus, and about countries shutting down to fight the pandemic, I was transported back to that dream. I didn't run to the supermarket to stock up, but this time I ran to the garden to plant some more seeds. My worst nightmare was playing out in a way and somehow I knew exactly what I needed to do in order to make it through. Ever since this started, a lot of you have written to me expressing the wish to come and live here long term and learn in the process. I feel that this lifestyle will eventually be very widespread all over the world now that more and more people are leaving their careers to move to villages and live a simple life. You've helped me make Gaia Grid what it is today and now I can't ask for more, now I can only offer my support, experience and learnings. So I will share with you a small video I made the other day on making cuttings. If you like it and find it useful, please drop a line and I'll make more such videos. Until the quarantine is over, this is the least I can do to share the gift you've given.

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and finding peace and meaning in these unprecedented times.

See you all on the other side.

Much love
Harsh
