Dear Supporters,
Thank you for the support so far
We have realized the need of toilets at the Protest site is increasing each day as number of farmers are reaching at site. So we would love to extend our support to the protest site and will be aiming more toilets with extending our timelines.

Dear Supporters,
Thank you for all the love and support that you have shown for this campaign. We are grateful to each one of you.
BasicShit is a collective of designers, architects, artists, and scientists. We have about 10 members in the team with another 20 roving members who are from different walks of life and come together on different initiatives of the organization from time to time.
While our personal motivating factors vary from an interest in sanitation for women, recycling trash to creating eco-friendly public design solutions, what brings us together is a strong keenness to solve public sanitation problems through sustainable solutions.
BasicShit with its existing resources set up one toilet at the Singhu Border protest site and made it exclusively for women to first serve the most vulnerable category. This toilet was already in the stock and further resources were pooled in by the members, and now we have been raising funds through a crowdfunding platform, Milaap to set up 30 more such toilets.
Of course, without the support of various farmers and volunteers, the installation of the Bibiyan Da Toilet wouldn’t have been possible.
Further, the ‘Make Your Own Toilet’ workshop wouldn’t be possible without the support of various langar organizers and farmers who donated their waste material, and created and installed their own urinals and toilets.
Special mention to Satendra Ji, from Kundli in front of whose farm the first toilet has been set up and he opened up his house and farm with wide arms for us to use.
The first Bibiyan Da Toilet was put at a place that had been used as an open defecation and urination spot since the farmers' sit-in began on the highway. The spot was cleaned up and transformed to first put the toilet, and the surrounding area has been used to run a ‘Make Your Own Toilet’ workshop whereby farmer-protestors have been making DIY urinals and toilets using waste Oil Containers.
Seven such Protest-sourced Urinals and 4 open-air latrines for men have been installed with the help of farmers who participated in this. The urinals are spread on the service lane of the highway at spots where men had been urinating and the latrines at a farm which had become a hotspot of open-air defecation.
Under the open-knowledge philosophy of the collective, the design for the urinals and latrines have been displayed on posters on-site and shared on our social media so that anyone can make their own toilets.
A DIY-Urinal workshop for women is also being coordinated with Dr. Shalini Garg who’s at Tikri and bringing together women farmers to make their own toilet in the coming days. Since these toilets are dry-toilets and use a compost pit, no water is required for flushing. Instead of water, sawdust is to be poured post defecation and it’s been provided in a box inside.
Water is only required for the health faucet provided inside and for handwashing, and hence a 20Litre water tank is enough for a day's operation.
For regular cleaning, a Safai-Sipahi has been employed on-site, who has been provided with equipment and training and cleans the toilet regularly apart from helping users understand how to use the toilet. The Safai-Sipahi makes sure soap, sawdust, and hygiene is maintained and refills the water tank when required, Farmers have been providing us with water through their tankers and even supplied sawdust for the ‘flush’.
To help raise the rest of the amount faster, Milaap is offering a additional 5% matching on all the contributions (till 6 PM Sunday, 10-Jan-2021 ). This means for every 5000 INR, Milaap will contribute an additional 250 INR to the campaign thereby creating 1.05X the impact.
