Dear Family,

It's 2021 - a new year, new beginnings. As I sit by my window, with a hot cup of chai, thinking about all that this year has been, I'm filled with introspection and gratitude. A year that we saw so much being lost, punctuated by tiny but important gains. It was a powerful year, leaving several lessons behind, to be written in a few words.

My life put me in such a precarious position that I can't bid good riddance to 2020 entirely, like a lot of us are trying to. I witnessed something magical happen this year. The collectivist approach of you to back me with funding to give wings to my dreams has put me where I am today. I can't be anything but humbled.

Thank you for making this happen for me. As I am past a term at Oxford and currently enjoy my vacations, I want you to know there is nothing that we cannot do, together we can move mountains.

Happy 2021 to you all, have a blessed new year!

Dear supporters,

I read somewhere once that when great things come; they do not come with a bang. They come softly, silently. You turn a corner and it is there. This is how I feel right now. Like I have turned a bend and reached the destination.

To be here today, with the certainty that I am going to go to Oxford, is such a large and humbling feeling. I wish I could hug you all and thank you for your support, kindness and motivation, but most of all, for your faith in me. I promise to stand by everything that I said when I was reaching out to you. I promise to strive to make this a better world. I promise to keep the promise I made to you.

With the highest regards and sincerity.

Shukriya!

Dear Supporter,

I hope you’re having a great week!

I have good news and bad news. For the past year, I have been applying to numerous scholarships across the globe and have now heard from almost all of them. I recently heard from Chevening saying that they won’t be making any upgrades this year because of some solid budget cuts. This was a serious setback because Chevening had a history of making 100% upgrades in India.  I am sorry that this year couldn’t get any better for me. I’m heavily banking on other departmental scholarships and hope that they come through.

The good news is that I heard from a few alumni and professors from Oxford who were proud of what you and I have collectively accomplished with the crowdfunding. A huge shout out to you!

I am on the last leg of my fundraiser. I am sure you must be tired of this by now, but I only need one last push from you. Please share it wherever you can; all your friends and on your social media.

We only need 600 people with a donation of 1000INR to get me through.

Last, I am extremely grateful to you for donating to the cause of getting me to Oxford. Inshallah tomorrow when I am in a better position, I will look for means to support others and work diligently to make the world a just & better place.

Please take care of yourself and stay safe.

Shukriya!
