Selvi, a 46-year-old, lives with her husband and son at a village in Trichy. She is a homemaker and her husband works in the real estate sector. Selvi had taken an energy loan of Rs 2,300 to buy a solar lantern. According to Selvi, one of the best aspects about the solar lantern is that it didn't emit or transmit shock. "Most of the electrical equipment at our house do emit shock. On the other hand, the solar lantern is brilliant that way," she said. Selvi and her family members use the solar lantern for charging their phones and during recurrent power cuts. "Even if the power cuts are moderate during the rainy season, the solar lantern helps us to conserve and save a lot of electricity," said Selvi.
