The young and ambitious, Saudamini Behere

20 years old Soudamini Behera was my next borrower for the day. We reached her place late afternoon and got the chance to meet Saudamini and her mother. They warmly welcomed us home on the rainy day.

Soudamini’s family rears cows for a living. She is the youngest in the family and has 3 elder brothers. 18 months ago they had taken a loan of Rs. 20,000 for her education. The loan helped her finish her graduation in Sociology. Saudamini is the most educated person of her family. Her mother told me that her sons couldn’t finish their education because of lack of funds and sincerity. But Saudamini is a sincere girl and takes her education very seriously. When I enquired about her future plans, she told me that she was currently preparing for an entrance exam for a social work institute. I was touched by her noble choice.

Thank you for supporting Saudamini.
