She lives in a rented, two-room house in Athagarh, Odisha. Her husband works as a peon in Gopabandhu College . She was worried that her husband would be reaching soon. I said I would not take much of her time. She agreed. She told me a few details about her life. She has two sons one of them is studying Mechanical Engineering in BBSR and another one is studying in class 12 in Gopabandhu College. She said that her husband is keen on educating her sons. He doesn't want their sons to suffer financially. He wants to provide them all basic amenities and all the things they need to complete their education. He says “Mate mo pilanku patha padheibara bohut iccha achi karana mu nije patha padhini. Mu chahunchi mo pua nija nija goda re thia hou” (which means I really want my children to study, to become something more than I am, to be able to make a living on their own). Her husband said,"I know that I am a peon in the same college my son studies in.Still, he is not ashamed of what I am. I am proud of my children." I was mesmerized to hear that. Since children nowadays would never dare to do the same thing that her son did. They would find it shameful and feel that somehow their reputation is at stake. My heart was filled with respect. The solar light is basically used to light up her modest house during the evening. Her sons can study properly since the light has good illumination. This way they also save a lot of money on electric bills.
