Chhayarani asked me, “Do you need the light? I will switch it on if you want.” When I shook my head, she settled down to talk to me. She is a 59-year-old woman. She has one son and two daughters. “My son operates a tea stall. My two daughters are married. My oldest daughter weaves sarees.” Chhayarani is a follower of Lord Krishna. She spends most of her time in the temple. Chhayarani availed the loan to purchase a cow. She rears this cow for milk. Thereafter, she sells the milk in her locality. She earns Rs 3,000-4,000 from this business. “I purchased fodder for the cow as well.” When I requested her to show the cow, she smiled and replied, “ The cow is grazing on the field right now.” She further revealed, "Since all my children are married, the cow is now my child."
