" Satisfied with the efficiency of the solar lamp"-Padmini

Padmini is a 34-years-old married woman residing in Balangir district of Odisha. She has a family of 4 members including two school going children. Her elder son is a student of class 9 while her younger son is a student of class 6. Her husband has completed his graduation while she herself has completed her secondary education. The village where she lives and its adjoining areas is experiencing an energy crisis making the villagers be dependent upon kerosene lamps to light up their home. The kerosene lamp had been the only alternative to Padmini and her family for carrying on their daily work in the evening. The problem lay in the high cost of the fuel and the toxic smoke emitted by the lamps. She found a solution for this with the help of the energy loan from Mahashakti Foundation. She purchased a solar lamp with the loan amount and it has proved beneficial for her family. The solar lamp is used by her in doing her household chores, going out in the evening to purchase grocery. Her children study under the bright light of the solar lamp without being exposed to the toxic fumes. Her husband uses the lamp in the evenings at his stationary store. It has helped cut down the monthly household expenditure. She is thankful to the lenders for their support.
