Pinki was cooking lunch when we came to meet her. "I have taken the loan for groundnut cultivation. I have taken loans 2 times from BJS. We haven't done groundnut cultivation this time, instead, we intend to farm potatoes this winter. Groundnuts are sowed in the month of December. This is my son", she says, as she takes her crying baby son from the arms of her older son. She continues, "He's 2 months old. Because of him, I can't go to the group meetings (of BJS). I used to go regularly before. Now there's no one at home to look after the kid. We are just 4 members in the house. I had taken permission from sir (credit officer) to allow me these leaves. My husband is also engaged in the nursery business. He intends to buy a garden in the near future to plant the trees. I never work in the fields, I can't say how much the groundnuts were sold for last season."
