Loan to Chandra and group has paved way for a healthy sanitation

Dhanalakshmi's village has recently received the Indian government award for healthy sanitation.Her group members moved to this village in rural Tamil Nadu last year after they found jobs at a cloth mill nearby. All of them are employed at the same mill on a contract basis and have a fixed income of Rs. 7,000 a month. Post moving in the village panchayat started emphasizing and putting pressure on them to have toilet constructed at their homes.With a meager monthly income, Dhanalakshmi has to support her family by paying the monthly rent and the school fee for her children and hence, shelling out money for toilet construction was out of question back then. Chandra, the group leader got to know about Guardian, Milaap's partner and the ease with which they give loans. Hence, Dhanalaksmi applied for a loan and her family now uses a proper household sanitation. She is grateful to the lenders worldwide.
