Geeta was weaving when I entered her house. She recognized the field officer and asked her about me. As they conversed in Manipuri, I checked out her work. Geeta is mostly engaged in embroidery business. Geeta is a 33-year-old woman. She got married in the year 2007. Geeta revealed, “I have a son. He is 9 years old.” Geeta’s husband is a policeman. She laughed as she spoke, “Since my husband is a policeman, my son also aspires to become a police officer.” Geeta started weaving at the age of 12. After marriage, she started weaving phanek. She sells the phanek in the local market. She proudly announced, "Sometimes people really appreciate my work. It inspires me to work more sincerely." Geeta needed a solar lamp. She said, “It was very difficult to teach my son in the candlelight. Now, there is light all the time.” Geeta’s son scored well in her examination. She intends to invest more money in her son’s education. She added, " I hope my son pursues higher studies. I want him to study more sincerely."
