“I will make sure my son fulfills his dream

Rita Rabha was the only one I met from her group. She said, “I just returned from the market”. After a while we all sat around her dining table and started talking. She made tea for us. It was refreshing indeed. Rita lives with her husband and a four years old son. Her son wants to be a doctor. “I will make sure my son fulfills his dream”, she said. Rita’s husband is a auto driver. Initially Rita had taken the loan to start a cloth business but she couldn’t manage to do the same. Her expenditure was more than her income so she decided not to continue. She instead helped her husband with the amount and saved the rest for household purposes. Rita’s husband works day and night to provide his family a comfortable life. Rita is thankful that she got the loan. “The loan helped us survive during financial problems”. Rita plans to open a cosmetic shop, “I want to name my shop after my son”, she added. Rita always wanted to become a singer. “Music is the best way to express emotions”, she says. She even sang a Bengali song for me! I must say, she has a pretty good voice. It was time for me to leave. After she finished singing, I closed the conversation. I was really impressed with her melodious voice. After wishing her good luck for her future endeavours, I thanked her for all the time she gave me and took off.
