Women and jewelry are two inseparable factors and jewels play a major part in every Indian women's lives. In most of the weddings in Tamilnadu, the brides wear bright colorful covering jewels which include pearls, stone-studded necklaces, and bangles. These covering jewels are usually taken for rent as they don't use it much after the event gets over. Gowsalya and her love for jewels can be seen from the collections she has at home. She is a budding entrepreneur from Thiruvarur who rents covering jewels for various events like marriages, dance programs, school skits, and plays..etc. Before getting into this business she was only a housewife whose only task was to cook and take care of the household. She wanted to indulge in some business, make some money and contribute to it her family's monthly income. That was when this idea of renting covering jewels started. She has also learned beautician courses which helped her much in buying attractive jewels for her business. She rents them to people and the rent is calculated on a per-day basis. She feels that this business is so profitable as new jewel-sets are rented like Rs.1000 a day.Once in six months, she goes to Chidambaram, which is known for its covering jewels manufacture and buys them in wholesale. With the loan amount she received, she bought some more sets of jewelry and has expanded the business. Her business is on high during wedding seasons and there aren't many places near her where they rent jewels, which boosts her income more. She doesn't have to go and rent her jewels as the customers come to her home and get them for rent. She is happy now that the business is giving her more profit and she can contribute to the family's income even by sitting in her home.
