Bag business is becoming more profitable with the loan

There was an old woman sitting outside near the door. When field officer asked her if Kabita was at home or not, she looked at us for sometime before calling out her daughter-in-law. Kabita invited us in. She lives in a joint family with her husband's brother's family. A total of 10 members live together in the house. She has a son who is in class 1. Her husband owns a bag store. She said, "He sells different types of bags - school bags, ladies handbags, sling bags, etc." The bag business was started way before Kabita got married to her husband. She said, "It has been 10 years since our marriage and he is still running this business." Her husband buys the products from Kolkata, Siliguri and the local wholesale market. She said that the loan amount has helped in purchasing the goods in bulk as at times, other local shops would also buy the bags from them at a wholesale rate. The goods bought get sold out easily. "My husband's business had profited a lot with the loan that we took. It didn't take long for him to bring in the next stock."
