Auto Driver's 4-Year-Old Who Can't Even Open His Mouth To Eat Needs Urgent Surgery

Little Junaid is just 4 years and like every other child he craves for sweets and ice-creams. But destiny has not been kind to the little child. He is born with a congenital condition due to which he hasn’t been able to open his mouth since his birth. He can't speak clearly also. He needs a corrective surgery that can help him open his mouth but his poor parents are in no condition to arrange this surgery.

Junaid hasn’t eaten any solid food for the last four years and has been surviving only on fluids

Junaid’s is suffering from a condition called temperomandibular joint ankylosis. Because of this condition, his lower jaw is fixed to his skull. He can’t move his jaw and has not been able to eat solid food.
 

“It took us a lot of time to realise that Junaid’s condition is not normal. Since his birth he hasn’t been able to eat anything besides drinking milk and juice. He sometimes complained of a pain in his jaws; we thought it was toothache and didn’t pay much attention to it. However, when a doctor visited Junaid’s anganwadi school and pointed out to us that he is suffering from a lot of pain. Once we got to know about his condition, we decided that his surgery needed to be done as soon as possible. But for a poor family like ours, it is very difficult to arrange for the money.” - Asifulla, father.

Asifulla is an auto driver and with his little earning he is unable to afford the surgery that will make his son’s life better

Asifulla drives an auto in Channapatna, Karnataka and he takes little children to school. He earns around Rs 3000-4000 per month and he is the sole breadwinner for his family. His two sons and his wife are solely dependent on him and he is struggling very hard to make the two ends meet. Junaid’s medical condition is worsening day by day and only a surgery can help him get any better. But Asifulla is in no condition to afford a Rs 2 lakhs 60 thousand without help.
 

“I see him crying out in pain and feel very helpless as I can’t do anything for my little son. He wants to live a normal life like that of any other 4-year-old - he wants to enjoy an orange ice-cream stick, munch on candies and all I hope is that he can do that very soon.”
