Neck Deep In Debt, This Police Constable Is Struggling To Afford His 8-Year-Old's Life-Saving Liver Transplant

“I have always worked hard to provide my family with a decent life. I only get to spend time with my sons on weekends and that is my favourite part of the week. My younger son Yaswanth would be eagerly waiting for me at home, full of excitement, he would tell me everything that happened throughout the week. Now, he has become dull and doesn't talk too much. He is soo weak that he doesn't even have the strength to get up from his bed because of his failing liver. I have already lost my mother due to liver disease and now I cannot imagine losing my son too.” - Prasad, father

Yaswanth was diagnosed with jaundice just when he started his new academic year

Prasad and his wife Venkateshwaramma lives in Chirala, Andhra Pradesh with their two sons Kumaraswamy (10) and Yaswanth (8). Little Yaswanth was excited to start his new academic year and go to class 3. He loves going to school and used to play with his cousins soon after coming back home. But a few months later, he started having a fever and after a few tests, he was diagnosed with jaundice.

Every time his stomach gets swollen, he needs to be taken to the hospital immediately to flush out the excess fluids in his stomach. Fortunately, Yaswanth’s father is a suitable donor for him but money has become a major hurdle for the poor parents.

We need to travel for 3 hours every 15 days just for my son's check-ups and  every time the excess fluids in his stomach needs to be removed. He would be fine for a few days but then again the swelling in his stomach reappears and his health starts deteriorating.
