Born After 19 Years Of Marriage, This Father Is Struggling To Save His Extremely Premature Twins

When you are expecting your first baby, there are a lot of thoughts that run through your mind. Even more so, when the arrival of the baby is delayed by 19 years. And we were having twins! Like most of the happy couples, I, Akhilesh (46) and my wife, Sunita (44) could hardly wait to meet our babies for the first time.

We have been married for 19 years and have been trying to conceive ever since. When we finally succeeded, we were delighted beyond measure! Anxiety about turning into parents was suddenly replaced by daydreams of first smiles, first words, first steps and more. Until the unexpected happened.

Sunita underwent a C-section to avoid complications

On October 13, 2017, my wife was rushed to the operating room. She was 7 months along in the pregnancy. The doctors said that if the babies weren't delivered immediately, Sunita's life would be threatened, along with our little ones.

Thankfully, the surgery went fine and Sunita was out of danger. But our children, born extremely premature and suffering from low birth-weight ad respiratory disease, had to be rushed to the NICU. Our baby boy is fine and is expected to leave the hospital in next few days. But our baby girl is in critical condition and had to undergo a corrective surgery.

The doctors are unable to confirm how long will it take for her to completely recover as she is awaiting other multiple surgeries for scoring a at survival.

Family of Humble Means

I work at construction sites and my income depends upon the kind of work that I manage to gain every month. If things go well, I earn up to Rs 40,000 per month but it doesn't, I don't bring a single penny home. Sunita is a home-maker. So far, we have spent Rs 6 lakhs on our kid's hospital stay and doctors say our bill might amount to 12 lakhs.

We have taken loans from our friends and family. Sunita sold off her jewellery to pay the hospital bills. Now we have absolutely nothing left. I don't know how will we manage to save our kids.

How Can You Help?

Funds raised through this fundraiser will help the couple nurse back their newborns to health and bring them home. Please extend your support.
