Help 2-year-old Nithya Who Is Suffocating Everyday Because Of Cancer

“I don’t understand how fate can test my daughter. She is suffocating from within every day. I wish a miracle can help us save her life.”

2-year-old Nithya is not a normal toddler. Her parents are raising her to be a humanitarian even if they are from an average background. Unfortunately, they found out that Nithya is suffering from a rare form of cancer and it is filling her lung with fluid. If she does not get treatment at the earliest, she will suffocate.

In 10 days everything changed and she was in the hospital

Nithya was born healthy. She has grown up to be an active and enthusiastic child. Apart from occasional cold and cough, she has never been sick. Murali and Lalitha celebrated Nithya’s birthday at a children’s home. Nithya donated food to the needy children. Having worked at the central jail for most of his life, Penchalaiah decided to raise his daughters (Lasya and Nithya) to be compassionate humans. Both children dedicate their birthdays to social causes every year.

“10 days after her birthday this year, Nithya had a runny nose. Before we knew it, she was struggling to breathe. I took her to the hospital in Kadappa, where the doctor took an X-Ray. The report said there was an obstruction in her left lung. We were referred to Kanchi Kamakoti in Chennai. That evening, October 27th, we reached the hospital.”

At 2 years, Nithya is suffering from a type of cancer that is suffocating her

The family had to consent for another X-Ray. They received a grave diagnosis. Nithya has a tumor in her lungs. It has been secreting a fluid which is causing breathing trouble. A biopsy revealed that the tumor was malignant and that Nithya has a rare form of cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma.

“My daughter’s condition kept getting worse. After we got the final diagnosis, they had to make a hole near her lungs to drain the fluid and help her breathe.”

Without immediate treatment, the tumor will take her life

Ewing’s sarcoma (primitive neuroectodermal tumor) forms around the bones or soft tissues. In Nithya’s case, the tumor has grown on her ribs affecting the surrounding area, thereby affecting her lungs. It is highly aggressive, fast growing and hardly gives the family time to react.

Nithya needs chemotherapy at the earliest to shrink the tumor followed by radiation and surgery to excise it. Delay in starting treatment can be fatal. Until now, the family has spent over Rs. 3 Lakhs for her treatment. She has been in the hospital for over a month, and with each day, her breathing is getting labored. The entire treatment is estimated to cost Rs. 12 Lakhs including post-medical care.
