This 23-year-old M.Tech Student From Bengaluru Has Cancer And His Farmer Parents Are Unable To Fund Chemotherapy

Prabhu is 23 years old. He is currently pursuing M.Tech at REVA Institute of Technology and Management in Bengaluru. Prabhu is the first in his family to go to college. His parents are farmers who struggled hard to educate him and gift a life they never had. The same parents are now toiling day and night to save their son’s life. Prabhu has been diagnosed with cancer. If they do not act soon, he will lose his life.

They thought it was a fever and that he had recovered

He was traveling from Bengaluru to Kolar when he fell sick. We were talking about how dengue and typhoid is affecting everyone in Bengaluru, so when his condition deteriorated, I suggested we go to a hospital in Bangarpet and check.”

Prabhu’s platelet levels were extremely low. The doctor referred him to a hospital in Bengaluru and following the advice, the family made its way here. Upon testing at Manipal, Prabhu was diagnosed with an infection. He was treated with platelets and medication before being discharged. This was 2 months ago.

He needs to start fighting but he cannot afford chemo

“They also performed a bone marrow test to be sure. When the results came in, the doctor called us back. Prabhu still had fever. He was on rest at home. He was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia – a form of cancer that affects the white blood cells that grow in the bone marrow. Prabhu’s immune system is compromised as a result of this disease.”

Although Prabhu is on medication, for now, he must start chemotherapy as soon as possible to beat cancer. It will spread fast if he does not begin to fight it. Unfortunately, with a daily wage of less than Rs. 300/day, his parents do not have the means to fund Rs. 6 lakhs towards the treatment.

How can you help?

Whatever we had and could borrow, we did for his education. We have four children. We are doing everything possible to fund their education. My oldest son is working a lot to help with these bills but there is nothing we can do to come up with Rs 6 lakhs. Please, help us save our son.”

Prabhu excels in studies. A few months in college and he would be able to support his entire family. His dream is to pull his family out of this situation. Now, he is in a critical condition unsure about his future.

With your help, Prabhu can survive this disease and fulfill his dreams.
