His liver has been dying ever since he was born
I did not know that my son was sick when he was born. We were deliriously happy because he was finally here after 12 years of praying. When he was 2 months old, he came down with a high fever. He would cry continuously and we never knew why. I thought he must be in pain and took him to the hospital.He was diagnosed with jaundice. The doctor said there were signs of a congenital liver disease. I was just taken aback to know that my son was suffering from birth. We ran a few tests including a biopsy. At first, the results came back normal. The doctor said it was just jaundice and he will recover with medicines.
A liver transplant is the only way out
Within a week, Aditya's condition got worse. He began vomiting milk. He stopped drinking altogether. His belly began to bloat, and he turned yellow. Another panel of tests confirmed that his liver was failing.He was underweight. The doctor said he needs to put on weight first. His body has hardly been getting nutrition. And soon after that, he needs a liver transplant. Without the transplant, we will lose him.
Frustrated unable to help his pain
Aditya is hardly feeding. The pain owns him now. All he can do is cry. We cry unable to do anything for him. His stomach has bloated so much. I can understand how uncomfortable he should be feeling right now. Preeti and I alternate between staying awake with him all night because he never sleeps.The transplant will cost over Rs. 15 lakhs. We have been able to pool everything together and come up with Rs. 10 Lakhs, we are still short of Rs. 5 Lakhs.
