Baby Krishna is just 25-days-old And He Needs Open Heart Surgery to Live

My name is Sanjeev Kumar, and I am the father of a 25-day-old child that we have named Krishna. Ever since I and my wife Surabhi got married in the winter of the year 2015, and we have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of our baby.

We have been told that a birth of a child is ultimate happiness in any couples life, and even though not many would agree, we looked forward to encountering such bliss. So naturally, when we found out that we were pregnant with our first child in December, we were overjoyed.

"Our baby is suffering too much too soon"

Up until the baby was delivered, everything went smooth. Surbhi was living with my parents in Lucknow who was very diligent when it came to taking her for timely check-ups. Nothing was suspected or detected. After my baby was born, we took him home. We christened him Krishna. Those 7 days that he spent with us were heaven. His tiny, chubby fingers seeking our hands and his twinkle-eyed laughter made our hearts croon. But little did we know that happiness for us would be so short-lived.

"Our good times were mercilessly butchered"

On the 8th day of bringing Krishna home, tragedy struck. Krishna was unable to take the feed so we had to rush him to the local hospital in Lucknow. After undertaking multiple tests, the doctors concluded that our baby was suffering from a complex congenital heart disease with airway issues. It was a critical condition and our baby had to be operated. He was immediately admitted to the NICU, and we were asked to make arrangments to take the baby to some better hospital in Delhi.

That is when we brought Krishna to Shri Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi on 1st October 2017. He has in NICU ever since, and now that he is showing stability, the doctors are planning to operate soon.

"He is just a baby. He should be with us at home, keeping us on our feet all the time, paying heed to his baby tantrums. But instead, he is lying there in the NICU, with machines piercing his tiny arms and chest to keep him alive. Standing outside that NICU window, hoping to get a decent peek at my baby's lifeless face, I've never felt so helpless."

Family of humble means

I work in a private firm in Mumbai. My monthly salary is Rs 30,000 per month. My wife is a home-maker. So far we have already spent Rs 1. 8 lakhs on my baby's treatment. We are expected to arrange for more 3 lakhs in coming few days if we want to even dream about taking our baby home. We don't have any savings at present, and whatever little we had has already been used up.

How can you help?

Krishna is barely 25 days old and is already fighting for his place in this world. Help him in his fight by contributing towards his survival. Funds raised through this fundraiser will go towards Krishna's heart surgery.
