On the night of June 4th around 10:30 PM, Srinivas Murthy, a cab driver, met with a traumatic road accident near Dasarahalli Village Road. He is now fighting to survive in the ICU with severe injuries to his head, the right side of his face and right shoulder.

He was the sole breadwinner for a family of 5
Srinivas left the village and came to Bangalore to support us all. My parents, wife and I are into agriculture. Over the past few years, the drought and summers have reduced our agricultural income to nothing. We could not even afford a meal. He took a job as a driver for a decent salary. It kept us afloat.
I was shocked to hear about the accident. Srinivas is extremely cautious on the road. We rushed to the hospital to find him in a critical condition. In that ICU with machines helping him survive, my brother was almost unrecognizable under all the tubes. His CT scan showed he had a blood clot in the brain. He had so many fractures on his right side. They rushed him into surgery immediately.
He is suffering and there is nothing we can do about it
After the surgery, Srinivasa was back on ventilator support. I have been waiting for him to open his eyes, but the doctor says he needs more time to recover. All I see is my brother having seizures. His body keeps jerking every now and then.
I am illiterate and ignorant. None of us in the family know much. So, for us, it is a state of constant fear. I see him in this state, suddenly having fits or spasms, and I do not understand why. I want to help him. I just want to save his life.
If only we could afford, he wouldn’t be fighting for his life
We make less than Rs. 3000/month and yet we have Rs. 11 lakhs hospital bills to fulfill. I have begged and borrowed to arrange Rs. 7 Lakhs. I have no resource left now to pay over Rs. 15 lakhs for further treatment.
Our relatives haven’t even come to visit him because they are afraid we would ask them to help. He was our savior, now we are struggling to save him.
