She Believes Her Faith Is Stronger Than The Cancer That Is Slowly Killing Her

"I wonder why God is cruel to my child.  She has so much faith in Him, she wants to live. She makes me read the Bible to her every day and says, “Appa, have faith in God and trust me. I know he will help me come out of this. Please do something and pay for my treatment”. She even went and spoke in our church last month, saying she has trust in God and will come back healthy. She wants to prove to everyone that her faith is stronger than her disease. It’s her last chance to survive and I’m ready to do anything to save her life," - Simon, father of 14-year-old Varshini.

Varshini’s life was normal until she had a mild fever one day. Her parents thought it would go away soon but the next morning she woke up writhing in pain. She couldn’t lift her legs and was crying for help. Her parents rushed her to the hospital immediately and weeks later she was diagnosed to have a dangerous form of blood and bone marrow cancer that affects the white blood cells. Her immunity has gone down to zero, giving way to frequent infections and more pain.

She proved the doctors wrong and survived more than those 3 months they had given her

"Varshini underwent rigorous chemotherapy. The whole process was difficult for my little girl. She had a massive stroke in between and lost the movement in her limbs. But she was brave. She wanted to prove that the doctors were wrong and survived more than those stipulated three months. Our daughter gave us strength and pushed us to believe in her and fight for her even when we lost our hope. It was as if  our prayers were heard"- Kavitha, mother

Even Varshini’s doctors were surprised by her immense courage and faith in her self to beat the disease. As a result, she responded well to the treatment even though it made her weak. She started reacting positively to physiotherapy treatments for her limbs and her doctors promised that she can lead a normal life soon. But fate had other plans. Her cancer relapsed.  Now, only high dose chemotherapy and urgent bone marrow treatment will save her life.

It’s her 15th birthday in a few weeks and I am not even sure whether my girl will be alive to celebrate it. I’m scared of losing her.

"The only thing that keeps me going is Varshini - she still has hope that she will fight this disease again. But where will I go for the money for her treatment? We have nothing left with us." - Simon

I can't see Varshini suffer any more

Varshini’s father worked in a textile shop and her mother was a nurse before they left their jobs a year back to look after their daughter. They had to sell their house, bike and every other valuable for her treatment. Till now they spent around 35 lakhs and still needs 25 lakhs more to save their daughter’s life.

"Most of our friends and relatives don’t even pick my calls thinking I might ask them for money. I can't take this misery any more. I want to save my daughter but the cost of the treatment is too much for me. I need your help."

Varshini needs your help and prayers to fight this battle against cancer. With your kind contribution, she can use her last chance to undergo treatment and survive.
