"Once when I woke up, I saw that the blood from my nose was all over my pillow. I haven't been able to sleep after that fearing if something happens to me in my sleep and I don't wake up tomorrow? When my chest pains, I can't help but cry. I know Ammi and Abbu are trying to help me but this pain is unbearable..." - Rakibul (11).

In August, Rakibul had some red patches on his skin. His parents noticed an abnormal swelling above one of his eyes. After running all the tests, in September, they got to know he has a disorder because of which his body can't produce more blood cells. For 5 months they treated his blood disorder but it didn't work. Now, it has turned into Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Blood cancer) and they are still unable to do anything about it.

He has terrible allergic reactions to the chemo. He gasps for breath and his face starts swelling up. Whenever they try to give him platelets, his body just rejects it.

Father shuffles between two jobs but still that is not enough to save his son

Saiful has tried every possible means to cure their son. He took him to Chennai first and spent 3 lakhs there. But they couldn't sustain it financially and came to Kolkata. Seeing the treatment his son requires, Saiful knew that just his peon's job with an income Rs.5,000 would not be enough. He started working at night as well, as a driver. Even these two jobs are not enough for him to save Rakibul.

If he doesn't get the transplant he will keep getting sicker day by day

Saiful and Sohela have sold everything they had, because for them nothing is more precious than saving their son. They have left Rakibul's brother alone in the village. Since August, they have spent almost 6 lakhs to consult the best doctors and get his reports done. The chemotherapy was not enough to cure him. He needs an urgent bone marrow transplant.

"Till now he has been admitted to the hospital 5 times due to severe conditions. It's so difficult for us to see him suffer like this. Sometimes when he coughs I get scared seeing blood in it. My wife, Sohela, breaks down every time seeing Rakibul like this but how do I get 35 lakhs in such a short time to save our son? That's the amount we need for the transplant," - Saiful, father.

A young boy of class 6, Rakibul has been trying hard to live everyday. He just got a GPA of 5 out of 5 in Primary Education Certificate in Bangladesh. He believes his Ammi and Abbu love him so much that they will save him. We can keep his hope alive if we help his parents. Please help Rakibul.
