Polio-affected Farmer Cannot Afford To Save His 4-year-old Who May Lose Vision And Life To Eye Cancer

"He is just 4 years old and we have been running to hospital ever since he turned 2. Just when we thought he has recovered fully, the tumor in his eyes came back. He'll become blind if he doesn't get treatment. There is nothing that I can do to afford the treatment because of my disability. I can't even work on my farm without my wife's support." - Nagendra, Father.

"We thought it might be some infections, we never imagined it to be cancer"

Jagan was born healthy and he did not have any health issues, except for the occasional cold. When he turned 2, he got a high fever and he stopped eating suddenly. His parents took him to a local hospital in their hometown Tumkur. They were asked to take him for an eye checkup because he starts seeing glares. They took him to a hospital in Bangalore and the results confirmed that he has a tumor in his right eye.

"Doctors said he needs to start with chemotherapy immediately. We were too shocked to say anything. He completed 6 chemo cycles and every day was a struggle. He was scared of injections and he was in too much of pain, we didn't know how to comfort him." - Sowmya, Mother.

Tumor is back and this time it is even more aggressive than before

Jagan turned 4 this month. He was better. He recovered from extreme tiredness and fever. He was just beginning to have an active life. Unfortunately, during one of their regular checks ups, doctors informed that his tumor is back and it can spread to his other eye and his brain rapidly without treatment. Jagan has started with his chemo cycles again and he is too young to understand why he has to take so many injections. He refuses to go to the hospital.

"We take him to the hospital for every 20 days. Whenever we take him, he throws tantrums, he cries at last he begs. It is devastating to see him suffer so much at this age. He has become too weak, most of the days he just lies in bed with no energy to even speak." - Nagendra.

"I earn only 2000 per month, how can I afford 2.5 lakh?"

Nagendra and Sowmya are farmers, they have a 1.5 acre of land and a cow. Nagendra is affected by polio and he is 60% handicap. He does whatever is possible within his capacity and Sowmya helps him in all his works. Due to the poor rainfall, they hardly earned anything in the past 2 years. It is through supplying milk to the nearby dairy centre, they earn few thousands. Nagendra, has nothing left with him and he has no one to help. He will lose his only child without your help.

"When my son was admitted for the first time, I borrowed huge amount of money and I haven't paid it back yet. Now I don't know whom to turn for help, please help me to save my son." - Nagendra
Nagendra has struggled for years to create a decent life for his family. With your help, he can save his son, and give him that life he dreamed of having.
