An Accident Leaves Eight-Year-Old With a Torn Stomach and Fractured Bones: His Family Is Helpless Against Surgery Costs

For Raju and Laxmi Mahor, life was simple but full of love. With three happy children, their home was always filled with laughter despite the struggles of making ends meet. In fact, returning from school should have been a joyful end to the day for Raju Mahor's son.
But last week, a routine school day turned into a nightmare.

“His energy after coming from school would light up our home. Now, it’s only his cries that pierce and echo.” – Laxmi Mahor, mother

It Looked Like a Few Scratches, Then We Saw the Blood

Their eight-year-old son returned from school in the arms of the bus driver. They were told 'he fell'. While the boy had a few visible scratches, nothing seemed alarming. Laxmi cleaned his wounds and let him rest.
Hours later, blood in his urine sent the family into a panic. As Raju rushed home from work in Faridabad city, Laxmi ran to find a hospital. But one hospital after hospital turned them away.

"I haven’t been able to cook a meal since that day. The stove at home hasn’t been lit." – Laxmi Mahor, mother

His Stomach Was Torn, and His Body Fractured

By the time they reached Asian Hospital in Faridabad at midnight, their son had gone into shock. Doctors soon discovered horrifying internal injuries; it was almost as if the bus had run him over.

His stomach was torn, and his leg, pelvis, and elbow were fractured. Surgery was his only hope. But the price of saving his life crushed them.

“Even after operating, they stopped stitching him up until we paid some money. After that, we could only beg who we knew.” – Raju Mahor, father

Raju Mahor earns just 12,000 rupees every month. As a sole breadwinner, all of it goes into rent and food. When the hospital wouldn’t begin the operation before an advance payment, they were forced to reach out to friends and family.

"We have borrowed from everyone. ₹50,000 from my employer, ₹50,000 from our landlord. Now, looking at how much we need, no one is ready or able to help anymore." – Raju Mahor, father

He Wakes Up In Agony and Begging for Help

Days after surgery, their son finally opened his eyes. His first words were a desperate plea for water and help. But they couldn’t even give him water. His torn internals needed to stabilize first. The helplessness crushed them.
His body is broken, and he is on the ventilator. He needs another surgery to fix his fractures. But the hospital won’t proceed without more payments.

"They keep asking for money and telling us he needs another operation. I don’t have a way out, I just wish I could take his pain on myself and die." – Raju Mahor, father

It Breaks Our Heart to Hear His Siblings Ask to See Him

Back home, his younger brother and sister keep asking for their brother. But they can’t. He’s fighting for his life in the ICU. Even Raju and Laxmi barely get to see him.
Raju is drowning in expenses as the hospital bill soars. With his eldest fighting for life, affording food and education for his other children is slipping out of reach.

"Our house was full of laughter. Now, it's just silence. When the kids say, “We just want to see bhaiya,” we don’t know what to say." – Laxmi Mahor, mother

His Life Hangs by a Thread—You Can Save Him

The hospital has estimated ₹19.74 lakh for his treatment. The Mahor family has nothing left to give, no one to ask.

"Everyone at home is panicking. We don’t know what to tell each other anymore. We’re just praying for help." – Laxmi Mahor, mother
