The Large Scar On This Newborn’s Chest Tells The Painful Story Of His Fight To Survive

Though they are just a few minutes away from the hospital, Ram Gowri and Sridhar can’t meet their newborn baby. The little one is battling life-threatening infections in the ICU and it is highly dangerous for anyone to meet her. So they wait in their rented room for that one call that connects them to their baby.

“We are grateful to the attending nurse who makes video calls every day so that we can see our baby for those two minutes, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to see him at all. We are constantly thinking about him all the time and that one call makes us feel a little better. But our baby's life is sill in danger. Anything can happen. ” - Ram Gowri, mother

There were absolutely no signs of the baby’s disease

The parents went for regular check-ups and did all the scans that were needed during the pregnancy. There were absolutely no signs of the baby’s disease. When he was born, they were so happy that they just wanted to go home and celebrate the joy with their family.

“We didn't know what our baby was going through. Just within a few hours of his birth, he was shifted to ICU and put on a ventilator. They told us he has a heart disease. It just left us devastated. ” - Sridhar, father

Every minute we prayed to God to keep him alive

Ram Gowri's baby was born with a severe heart disease where the oxygen was not reaching his lungs and other parts of the body, making it difficult for him to breathe. It was killing him slowly.

There was no time to think at all. They told us that our baby needed immediate heart surgery to survive and that we had to take him to a bigger hospital. The next thing we know, we were on our way to Chennai in an ambulance. It was 460 km to the hospital and every minute we kept praying to God to keep our son alive.”- Sridhar, father

My son's condition is critical and I am failing to keep up with the expenses

“The moment I knew that I would need money to get the surgery done, my mind started thinking of all the people who could help. I just picked up the phone and started calling them one by one. He was just 7 days old when he had the open-heart surgery. The scar on his body is so prominently visible. His little body couldn’t fight the infections and now, his condition is very critical. I am failing to keep up with the expenses. I have nothing left to continue the treatment. I don’t know what to do!” - Sridhar

Sridhar used to work in a hotel and his income was just enough to fulfil the basic needs of the family. By the end of every month, he didn't have anything to save. Now, for 2 months, he hasn’t earned even that little money due to the unfortunate circumstances of the pandemic.

“It’s been more than two weeks since I have seen my baby. He is fighting to survive. I just want to hold him in my arms and take him home safe. Please help us save our son! I beg you.” - Ram Gowri
