Brain Tumour Has Taken Away This 2-Year-Old’s Eyesight, It Can Kill Her Without Treatment

Baby Monali (2) responds only to the voice of her parents as that is the only thing she recognized before she lost her eyesight.

“Monali is our only child. I don’t know if she will remember our faces when she grows up. She is just 2 years and she was at the beginning stage of recognizing faces and identifying things. She hasn’t even started speaking yet. The doctors say there is a very minimal chance of her getting her eyesight back. I’m holding on to that tiny hope.” - Kalyani, mother.

A tumour in the little baby's brain has taken away her eyesight. Despite surgery, Monali is not out of danger - she needs continued treatment. But Kalyani and her husband are at a loss, they know they can't afford their daughter's treatment any longer.

Our baby is the only sunshine in our lives and now she is fighting for her life

Uday Das, Monali’s father, is a contract labourer from a small village in West Bengal. He hardly earns Rs 150 in a day and even that depends on the availability of work. He has seen days where he hasn't even had a single rupee to feed the family one time a day.

“My wife and I have gone through very rough days without money and food. Our baby is the only sunshine in our lives and now she is fighting for her life. We are living in the hospital as we can’t afford the rent and we have traveled here with the help of our relatives who lent us some money.” – Uday, father.

Monali was a healthy until 2 months ago when she started vomiting profusely. She was taken to the nearby doctor and was treated with regular medication. However, when the vomiting did not cease, the doctors advised the parents to take Monali to a hospital in the city with better facilities to get the right diagnosis. It was there with the help of an MRI scan, it was known that Monali has Medulloblastoma with a tumor in her brain.

â€śMonali was such a happy child who smiled and laughed often. Now, all I see is her crying and panicking to unfamiliar voices and sounds. She is always scared by the darkness around her, she clings on to me.  She is so much pain and I can’t bear this helplessness. Why can’t God show some mercy on us!," - Kalyani can't stop her tears.

Monali underwent a major brain surgery a week ago and the doctors have removed the tumor. However, she needs to undergo high-dose chemotherapy to recover completely. The treatment cost is estimated to be about 20 lakhs which is an unimaginable amount for Uday Das.

"I have always hoped for a happy life for my baby girl. I had never wanted to see her in so much pain. And I can't even do anything to save her. Now only you can save Monali."

You are the only hope that this young couple is counting on to save their child. Your contributions can save this 2-year-old baby’s life and give her a chance to see this world.
