Years Of Painful Chemotherapy Made This 6-Year-Old Forget How To Smile

Imagine spending your childhood in a hospital most of the time, not being able to play with friends, go to school or run around the house doing any mischief. But for the last two years, little Aradhya (6) has been going through a pain much bigger than that. He hasn’t even walked properly in a long time, let alone playing.

Aradhya was diagnosed at the age of 4 with Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a condition that can lead to multiple organ complications, and even death.

“With every session of chemo he had side effects. Headache, stomach ache and vomiting... For two years, my child has suffered a lot. He used to beg me not to take him to the hospital for the chemotherapy but I had to. Now, he just lies on the bed as if lifeless.” - Radha, mother

"Maa, why are we in the hospital again? Please take me home, I don’t want to stay here."

We weren’t even sure if he was able to recognize us

After a year his chemotherapy was stopped but within 2 months, his condition relapsed and this time it was much worse. Aradhya’s brain got severely affected and took several weeks to get better.

He fell completely silent. He didn’t move or talk much. There was a point where, when we would call out to him and he would just open his eyes for a few seconds. We weren’t even sure if he was able to recognize his own parents. We thought we would lose him.” - Radha

He is not the same but he is getting better

“2 years ago, he was such a happy and active child. Look at him now… he can’t even fake a smile anymore. After all that he has been through, this is the healthiest I have seen him and if the transplant is done now, my child... my child can have a normal life like other kids.” - Pawan, father

Aradhya’s body is all swelled up and he is getting weaker each day. Chemotherapy can’t keep him alive anymore. Only a bone marrow transplant can save him but they can’t afford it.

“We left Gwalior right after his diagnosis and came to Delhi for his treatment. I used to work as a private tutor but all this time, I wasn't able to earn anything. I have exhausted all my savings, begged and borrowed from everyone I know. I cannot afford 30 lakhs. I am helpless and I am watching my son’s life slip away from me.” - Pawan

You are his only hope to live. Your contributions can save him.
