Sangitaben Bhavsar of the Shiv Mahila Mandal from Ram Nagar, Sabarmati has been the sole provider of the family until her elder son started work about 2-3 months back. She also has a younger son who still studies in school.
She started a simple tiffin business about 5 years back which catered to about 4-5 people. Now, with the loan and more experience from her time in the business, Sangitaben has expanded to taking festival orders for 50 people in addition to maintaining a regular clientele monthly.
When the order gets as big as 50 people, she sometimes even hires one or two women from her colony and pays them depending on the help they provide.
