Veena is a 28-year old from Byrathi, earning her living as a tailor. She lives with her husband and a young daughter. Her husband works in a cable unit. Once their daughter Arathana begins schooling, Veena knows that their expenses will go up. So she wants to expand her business making bags, cushions, mats and boxes. For this she needs Rs 50,000 on loan from IndusTree Crafts Foundation to invest in machinery that will help increase production. Thanks to the new machinery, she can cut down costs by 5% and increase revenue by 8%. What’s more, the loan will enable her to employ fifteen people on contract basis. This loan doesn’t mean a better life for Veena’s family alone; she will be helping families of fifteen others too.
