Celebrate Girl Power With Milaap

This International Day of the Girl Child, Milaap would like to acknowledge the sheer power and grit that resides in every girl. Traditionally, this day is declared to support a wider range of opportunities for girls and raise awareness about the inequalities they face. In India, a country where female foeticide is rampant and the birth of a girl child is considered inauspicious by some, we also see many tales of girls who have overcome the odds and emerged triumphant. Determination in the face of opposition and the courage to dream is what pushes these girls that extra mile.We have seen the hopes and aspirations of many girl borrowers at Milaap. Today, we want to share with you the story of Heena. Like so many other girls her age, she was on the verge of being married off. However, she took a loan from Milaap and did a vocational training course. Being employed in a Coffee Day outlet now means that she is financially stable and she brings income into the family. This Day of the Girl Child, you could empower one too!
