Oxygen concentrators needed across India currently
Average cost of an oxygen concentrator ($600)
Patients that can be treated by one oxygen concentrator
What is the need?
India is undergoing a severe second wave of Covid-19 and the situation on the ground is dire. Oxygen is critically required to treat patients affected with Covid-19, however there is a severe shortage of availability of oxygen across hospitals in India.
Why Oxygen Concentrator?
Oxygen concentrators are alternate devices to oxygen cylinders – while cylinders contain a finite amount of oxygen supply, oxygen concentrators recycle oxygen from the air and deliver it to the patient. They can be used to manage patient requirements without looking for external sources of oxygen. A contribution of Rs. 45,000 will procure one low-flow oxygen concentrator that can treat and save the lives of up to 900 patients with mild to moderate illness. A contribution of Rs. 85,000 will procure one high-flow oxygen concentrator that can treat and save the lives of up to 550 patients with severe or critical illness.
What is Amazon doing?
Amazon is partnering with Milaap to crowdfund and raise financial aid to support Swasth Digital Health Foundation and ACT Grants in the mission to procure and deploy oxygen concentrators for those in need across India.
Who are our partners?
Swasth Digital Health Foundation along with ACT Grants is procuring oxygen concentrators and channelizing them to hospitals across remote areas for covid-19 response and for long-term health system strengthening. These oxygen concentrators can save thousands of lives and bolster much-needed resources for these hospitals. They can also be used to treat outpatients, reducing the load on hospital beds and easing the anxiety faced by patients.
